As the title suggests I am trying to find the best CAI available for a BA XR 8 Ute ( black )
so far I have done the exhaust from the cats back, K&N air filter and I have ordered a set of racing underdrive pulleys from Battens performance tuning. and after the new year I am getting a Helix and hoping to get the new edit at the same time
I have looked the SS inductions and the BPT cai and the possibility of the carbon fiber cai that Automotive composite enhancements are working on and due to be finished this month. What other CAI's are available for my car , what do they cost
and what are the performance gains from them.
Please help, I don't want to waste money on a CAI that does not do the job properly.
I do remember a thread in this forum that was about this but for the life of me I can not find it.
P.S what sort of rwkw do you think I will have after all the mods I have spoke off are complete.
Re: What is the best cold air induction for a BA XR8
I put a CAPA widemouth CIA kit on my BA XR8. It was the cheapest of it's type at the time and was just as good as the SS Inductions (but $100 cheaper). I put a green filter (pod) in as well. Havent had it Dyno'd but it goes better and sounds great too.

It was a suggestion mate, seeing as a CAI could set you back up to $5oo and result in only a 5-10kw gain at best i thought i would mention it. I didnt say you had to buy it or you had to have it. And its got a bit to do with cold air induction seeing as it bolts to the intake. Im truly sorry i wasted all of those 15 seconds of your life while you read my post.

mcdennis wtf, why snap at him?
he was just making a suggestion, trying to help, and it WAS related to the original post, keep your negative comments to yourself please, no one needs or wants that sort of stuff on here.
Why did you even say it?

I was being polite sternly and it was off the subject that I was requesting.
this is about cold air induction not intake manifolds or intake plenums. And I am aware of the one that Barry at BPT is working on.( sounds good and will consider buying one ). The other reason I made the comment is the only thing I am researching in this thread is the above topic ( CAI ) and if others start straying from the subject the next thing you know we will be talking about diff oil or something else totally of the subject.
so my apologies if I offended anyone, I just wanted to nip it in the but before it got out of control
So please please more information about cai and other companies that make them or even personal experiences you have had with them
And finally I hope I have not offended anybody in this thread this time
Re: What is the best cold air induction for a BA XR8
mcdennis1, you have many options, SS inductions probably the most popular can be Done though Herrod..
BPT have one that is very good value around $400 includes the BMC filter...
also G&D perfomance have had a very good result with a CAI they had one fabricated looks factory...
a member named bigkev has it on his ute..
