$1,000,000 says that if Ford didnt have the 5.4, and brought in the 4.6 for the BA, everybody would be disappointed with the 4.6, and asking for the 5.4!!!!!! - The good thing about this bet is I can't be proven wrong...
Good thing we let the Ford engineers test different gear ratios and engines because if the fans just pulled numbers out of a hat like 4.11:1 i am sure we would all be driving around in pieces of crap...
Anyhow this is all in fun, so i will make my wishlist

4L 200kw/400Nm sounds good to me with 6 manual and 6 auto
4L turbo XR6T, Fairmont Ghia 280kw/ 480Nm
4L Turbo Typhoon 360kw / 570Nm
(5.4 gets bored to 6.0 or 6.2) 4V across Ford Range option 310kw/ 540Nm
GT/GT-P/Pursuit/FPV Fairlane 370kw/ 620Nm
GTHO 6.2L with 100kw electric motor 470kw / 1000Nm

features/options: what they have now, plus - (on suited models)
Bi-xenons, brake by wire, steer by wire, stability control, double glazed windows, dual rear DVD screens with Digital TV, integrated iPod, Mp3 compatible CD... that will do for this model upgrade...

I remember reading somewhere that the 5.4 computer won't let it rev out, & that peak performance for a hotted-up 5.4 would actually occur after the cutout! Then again, with the engine's dimensions, I guess revving the crap out of one would not do it any good (limits to what the material can handle).

360kW is great and all, but a piss weak 570Nm? 360kW 570Nm is 482hp 420ftlbs. I'd expect to see 482hp 482ftlbs AT LEAST from that engine... That's 653Nm.. so 360kW/650Nm at a minimum.

Why would people be dissapointed with the 5.4? Consider the blown 4.6 can rev harder then our GT, and makes more power stock (291kW 528Nm is a claim.. its more like 320kW 590Nm in reality).

370kW 620Nm in the GT? 496hp is great, but only 457ftlbs? Bah (you must know by now how much I love torque )

Other then that, I don't mind your ideas hehe. Give me the helm of FoMoCo, and I'd execute my plan. I'll bet you the 4.6 would have been much more impressive then the lacksture gutless heavy inefficient 5.4 then the gave us. You got $1,000,000 to bet? I don't, but I'd bet you $10 lol.

4.11:1 in my cars is only with the 6 speeds, and with 6 gears, 4.11:1 is quite useable. Consider that the HSV GTS has 3.91:1 in its 6spd and 6th gear isn't what I'd call useable. You have less top speed in 6th, and as has often been commented, you're better off driving it as a 5 speed. All the five speed cars would have 3.73s.. and 3.45s in the four-speeds. 3.23 would be an optional tall gear for cruiser type people etc. Give me the helm of FoMoCo and I'd execute my plan. Then I'd ask you again, is your 4.6litre 365kW 665Nm Supercharged GT that runs low 12s/high 11s stock, and can be made ALOT faster for very cheap, and revs passed 6000rpm.. is it dissapointing? Or your 450kW 820Nm GT-HO... 5.0 S/C "Cammer" engine. I doubt anybody would be dissapointed by such a car, and I think even though current GT owners defend their mediocre Boss290 to end, they'd jump at the chance to own a M5 & E55 stomping FPV GT.

Well, Ford engineers aren't known for their great decisions... maybe if they replaced all their engineers with Mercedes/AMG ones or Porsche engineers, I'd let them work on it without interference

BTW: I'm not trying to argue.. however, I will bet you $10 that the 4.6 S/C V8 would have been a much better idea then the Boss290 POS. No offense intended to anyone who actually owns a Boss290 powered car, I just do believe FPV could have done ALOT better then this engine combo

But whats the point in deciding diff ratios without first knowing gearbox ratios, engine power and torque curves? Then base it on theory, then back it up with physical proof - not every 6 spd box is the same... Gee your not asking for much torque there steffo... but i like it! hehe
Ya gotta love my GTHO hybrid idea.... time for some real muscle without a sacrifice in fuel economy

i would actually say no to 18" wheels on anything bar the XR/FPV models. 17's can be expensive enough as it is - the Ghia is targeted to a different age bracket than the XR's are, and performance as such is not the main focus of the Ghia - its more for luxury cruising - not lightning fast times.

And remember that all of this costs MAJOR $$$ to develop. Ultimately the decisions on what BA2 brings will be determined by the budget Ford is willing to spend, and what THEIR customer surveys and market information decides is what the consumer wants - not what is posted on a forum like this.

oh by the way, wasnt the GTHO phase V an XD that never made it to production, and i am pretty sure there was a Phase VIII EA.... because of all this, they should ditch the "Phase" names... otherwise they really wont know where to start off again, and Phase 12 sounds dumb unless its a V12...
