Hey, can anyone tell me if there were any changes made to the engine from ef to el, are el's better in any way? I know ingnition system but dont know about internally? And will an ea-ed rocker cover bolt up to the rocker gear if you use the studs from the ea-ed?

Exactly the same engine I believe, besides the igniton system. Late ELs got AU heads. EA-ED rocker cover will bolt on, but will leak around the half moons. An AU one will go on and not leak, and kinda looks like an EA one.
Thats what i wanted to hear! with the half moons leaking, is it that they stick out further than the rocker cover?, do you think using the genuine rubber gasket with half moons moulded in would fix this? thanks brent.

I forget the exact reasoning, but someone said the half moon on the head is a different shape/size to the EA-ED, hence EF and EL rocker covers on EA-ED leak. Though if the EF/EL moon is smaller I imagine the plastic seal might cram in there and fix it.
EF's had shitty "high tech" round engine mounts that die after 3 years and vibrate your car to bits, the EL's went back to "ancient tech" solid rubber engine mounts that last 10 years.
