Ok, I've spoken to some of you before about this...but I havent put it open to public scrutiny before ...so here it goes.

Like most XB owners, I love the GT. Like many owners, I know that my car is NOT a GT...and is....infact.... a Fairmont.

I understand the difference and do not want to replicate the GT at all....(although the GS/GT grill + bonnet is a must)

Here is where it gets difficult. My fairmont is mulberry and the only way that i've really liked mulberry is with the silver/mulberry colour scheme.

Where can you cross the line with this?

I don't want to look like I am 'pretending' to be a GT when I'm really not. What is acceptable?

Any help would be appreciated.

How about sticking some silver GS stripes on it? Yes, its not a GS either, but no one can tell just by looking at the compliance plate :)

Thats the thing. I would be keeping everything that said "Fairmont". The sticker that says GT 351 I woudn't put on there.. I'm proud of the fact that it is a fairmont.. but that colour scheme just looks damn cool..

I always look at this way, if you had not seen the GT, you would probably have dreamt up the paint scheme anyway, then painted it then found out it was like a GT paint scheme, I say stuff it, do what makes you happy.

let me say i respect you for not wanting your car to be something it isn't.
that mulberry colour is fantastic with the argent so how about the silver xa gs stripe which follows the top of the guard up under the windows and finishes at the "c" pillar. if you have the gs bonnet, just paint the scoops argent and not the gt lookalike bonnet.
by the way if ever you want to sell it please email me......seriously.

GS stripe with GT Bonnet paint out. That would give it the look, but differentiate it from a GS and a GT! GTs were'nt the only cars with the bonnet paint treatment....see my car and also XC Moffat special and not to mention McLeod Horn Cars, which were often Fairmonts or Falcon 500s. How about seperating the bonnet stripe up the middle like the blue US xb GT429 car on other thread down the line?
