Hi All,

I just saw the thread on XR6 NA pricing and it prompted me to ask this question. I am trying to sell my AU2 XR8 (220kW manual) and have rung a few dealers to see what they would offer. The general consesus seems to be 23-27k, because demand has dropped due to being able to pickup a used BA XR6 for around the price AU2 XR8s now go for (low thirties). These prices are in QLD.

So, which would you go for? BA XR6 or AU2 XR8 220?

Been thinking about this one for a while actually, and it has to be the AU XR8 220, IMO better looks and its a V8 nuff said

Yup definately the V8, its an AU and an 8, cant go wrong!

I'd pesonally go the 220 as well. My bro's ex car was awesome and was probably just as quick (IMO, or at least very close) as his current xr6 turbo.

Maybe I should show this thread to all the dealers!

I wanted to avoid private sale, but if I can't get what I want I might have to go that way.

I may be biased but I would definitely go the 220kw V8. It's not just the engine but the complete package which is so appealing - speed and the AU chassis handling. Enough poke to give most (non modified) cars a good run in a straight line and SS Commodore shattering performance around the bends. Need I say anymore? Oh yeah, despite some knockers the 220kw Windsor V8 ROCKS. Could never go back to a 6, force fed or not...

Go the V8 220. I used to have one before i bought my GTP. Great car.

220 V8 for sure. Great car. Now if we were talking the XR6T it would be a different matter IMO.

Seriously it does depend on what your priorities are. Are you a long term or a short term buyer? Are you a V8 nut or someone who would be happy with just reasonable power with reasonable economy as a trade off for newer and better looks?
