We are experiancing problems with my brothers XE 4.1 efi, he ran it low on juice one day, and when he filled it up it now it runs like crap, it wont get over 3000 rpm, and wont idle and is very rough, and hard to start, most of the time we need to pour some petrol down the throttle body to kick her over. We think the pump is the problem and we just want to take some fuel pressure tests, does any one know the pressure it should be at and where abouts we should take them from.

Fuel pressure should be about 200kpa. To check the pressure, take off the fuel return line from the injector rail & hook up the fuel gauge. You'll need to crank the engine or bypass the relay to operate the fuel pump. Mal.

It appears to be the fuel pressure regulator that is shagged. it is stuck closed and wont let any fuel through. could this be the problem to these symptoms?

Have you ruled out blocked fuel filters and crap in the fuel lines being a bit restrictive??
