Can i legally put eight inch rims with 265 tyres on my xe???

I don't see why not. But not shure. Have 8" rims on XY and used to have 265s on back and it went through a Road Worthy fine.

Depends on what state you are in.

In WA, you can only go 1 inch above standard..........so that makes a maximum of 7". The front and rear wheels have to be exactly the same size. They normally allow about a 10% difference in front/rear tyre sizes. ie: 265 rear and 245 front. (but 265's will pop off a 7" rim!!)

The Fairmont and ESP mags were 7" wide so I say +1 and there's my 8, if they ask questions.

I just took my 15x11's off

I dont think it would legal but im sure you would not have any dramas if you did put them on as i have myself have owned an XD with the same and never had a problem

As said it depends on the state you live.


In Vic you can go 2" wider than stock, the rolling diameter must be within 10% (I think)

265's will work on a 7 inch rim, my dad was running 265's on the back of his XB on 14 x 7's

How can they actually tell the width of your rim, as the tyre sticks out further. Do they look at the numbers on the rim? Do they even have the numbers stamped?

They (highway patrol car specialists with the gear) can break out some big plastic $5 callipers that measure rim width. Not all rims have the sizes stamped on.

265's on 7" rims would be starting to bulge too much on the rim. I have 245's on 7's. I wouldn't go higher.
