Re: xf inlet manifold

you would not gotwin holleys at al lor a holley of that size and if you needed a 750dp you would never be able t odrive it on the street cos the engine would be so serious it wouldnt be practical at all, i have converted to efi now and dont run carbs use an aftermarket computer and is a much better option, mate u have to sit down and work out what u want before i could give u any sort of advice cos i dont know what u want, its acase of how long is a peice of string, if you want to get more info on this sort of thing visit xFords.com and once u work out what u want this engine to do post it up there and we should be able to offer some advice but man u can go really far with an engine depending how much money u have and how serious u want to go and waht aplication u are using this engine for eg street reged or race car,

Re: xf inlet manifold

if you close to standard motor then u wont need to go above 350 holley and a decent aftermarket manifold. if you wont to increase take off speed then change to lower diff ratio. mate what has been done to your car??? and list al lthe mod u have done to the engine

Re: xf inlet manifold

then if its only little mod work then u would put a 350 holley on nothing bigger, with an after market manifold like redline or something like that and a decent tune u will be set. u wont be making any big hp but u will be better than u are currently, try a differnt diff ratio and maybe a a t5 manual conversion, these mods are very common for the xfs and many people are doin g these mods them selves at home and prety cheaply, with a combo like that u will be alot quicker, but again with out major engine work u wont be crazily fast but u will be suprised how well your car will go with a few simple mods and a few conversions, im guessing u are currently auto? is so then maybe consider the t5 manual conversion, the web adress i gave you before will be able to give u advice on how to fit these things your self, this forum is good also but xfords.com is a forum just for xd-xe-xf's, so might be worth checking it out

Re: xf inlet manifold

to get that sort of hp out of a na motor u would really need your engine pulled down and taklen into a speedshop and let them go nuts and it would not really be a streetable motor,

if you want a big hp engine and to drive it on the street then u would probly best going a trubo crossflow. turbo wil lbe the easiest and cheapest way and your car would be more streetable than a serious n/a motor.
go talk to your local speed shop tel lthem what u wont and ask best way in which to do it.
with big hp u have to keep in mind alot of planning and designing is involved to get all the parts working well with each other.
if i were you and were serious about getting this hp then i would invest in efi and not carb then go turbo and a serious bottom end to handle the boost that you will be sticking into it.
keep in mind u would need after market ecu's and thats good money and plus all the machining and turbos, internal engine parts, manifolds and pipes and tubing and thsi is just the begining, u would be looking at least 10-12k on the setup. big hp costs big money.

Re: xf inlet manifold

it all comes down to what you will use the car for , the amount of money you can spend.
maybe get onto ebay and looking at snort performance or call them : 0405522147 ask if they do turbo stuff for carb appications.
one kit they addvertise is for ea-au. 200-350 rwkw for about $5000.

other than that n/a mods and tuning would unlikely compare $ for $ on performance gains compared to forced induction.

i have an xf ute, 5t g/box, gas towing cam, 2 barrel holly manifold, 350. extractors. reco bottem end with ULP compression ratio friendly pistons. but with the lpg i'm thinking i could have gone for a bit higher.

however it performs quite well, enough power to pass/hills without any problems. not the sort of hp numbers you are chasing. but i towedmy 91 v8 LTD in a tandom trailer to get trans serviced. did a much better job of it than i first thoght it would.
