ok my car was running fine no problems stopped at the petrol station once i jumped back in to start her it sounded like it was flat and wouldnt kick. After getting the bitch towed home i instantly put a new battery in no result so then i changed the starter motor still the same thing so i got a screwdriver and joint the two terminals on the starter it tries to crank but cant and the fan slightly turns. when i try to start with the key now i get absoluteley nothing any ideas

Under cranking your battery shouldnt drop uner 9 volts and should be at least 12.4 no load , if its under that its either flat or finished

Take the spark plugs out and see if it cranks over.

might be seized, might have a pot full of coolant hydrolic locking engine, even a broken flex plate.

Hi mate,
make sure you have cleaned all the terminals on the battery as well as the earth strap both ends and terminals on starter. I've had to do this twice with the same symptons you have had.

the voltage the battery is outputting is fine its brand new but i cleaned up me earth wire and she almost kicked over so i think ill just replace the wire since its the original and the positive while im at it and all terminals and me coil since they're all original ill see how i go.

Start with Garth's suggestion.
rip out the plugs, and see if it winds over.
It sounds to me like a hydraulic lock also.
If you get a squirt of water out a plug hole, then its head or head gasket.
The rest is replacing things probably not broken.

I had a XF that didn't like starting when it was hot. I replaced the positive lead from the battery to the starter with a thicker lead and earth lead aswell. it fixed my problem, The thin leads couldn't let enough cuurent flow to the starter.

Also does your starter have a heat sheild on it?
