Hi everyone,

I am interested in knowing what experiences you peeps have had when racing a XF Vs VL NA. just out of curiosity, have a friend who wants to race me.

So here is how it is. standard VL.
XF Falcon with new rebuilt, not recon engine and rebuilt carby. how would the XF go, would it win or loose. any ideas?

I rekon it would be pretty close. id probly tip the XF off the line, VL would catch a bit...... too close to say i'd think. depends how old his engine is etc.

What transmissions?
I think the only chance you'll win if he's an Auto and your manual IMO.

hmm auto or manual?
If the XF is manual (4 or 5 speed)
It would win hands down
but if it's a carbi auto would be pretty close.
The VL has Injection though right?
If so I'd put money on the VL.
Also depends on the speed.
Up to 60 VL.
UP to 140 XF Easy.

Carby XFs are fairly shit hole.....EFIs though hammer hard.

What sort of VL does he have? An auto XF carby vs a VL EFI and your done.

I know that the XF is lighter than the VL and has more power....ive never driven a carby model though.

Ive put o shame many a VL and VN off the line in my XF but they tend to build up speed and have a better top end.

The VL is an auto and it is the nissan engine

I've got a 5 speed vl NA. with the nissan RB30 etc etc. Although i've never raced an XF, i know i can cream V6's Pre VT. and even stay infront of a vs ss up until 100kmh. My vl was putting out 96rwkw before more iginition advance(34 btdc now), cold air intake and k&n panel filter.

VL will win if your stock,
approx 105 kw to 114 for the VL and the Vl is lighter im pretty sure.
Especially if both are auto.
When my XF was stock i got done by heaps of VL's consistantly. My XF is a manual too.
I raced a mate in his auto VL and lost. Then i had head, cam and intake done and i beat him by heaps very consistantly, All VL's except turbo dont stand a chance now.
When my cam was changed my old one was very worn tho, yours might be different.

But still with the sluggish auto box you will struggle.

My mates vl auto ALWAYS creamed my xe manual efi from standstill and nearly any speed rolling start, except for up a hill once.
