just wondering my mate is selling his ED xr6 cam to me 4 $150
should i buy it? I have a EBII Gli with extractors, K&N airfilter and a power chip.. Should i put the cam in?

You'll need to do something to the springs, valves, etc.. Ask your local mechanic for a price on parts and labour if you supply the cam..

Not trying to take a sale away from yer mate but an EF falcon GLi cam has almost the same grind as an ED XR6 Cam. Only it has smoother ramps which makes it easier on your valve train, negating the need for uprated springs etc.
Usually go for under $50 at a wrecker, dont get an EL cam though, you may risk buying the later model AU style cam

Does the EF cam affect the compression ratio? I'd like to buy one for the increased smoothness, but don't want to up the comp ratio. :(

The cam wont affect the compression ratio. Thats determined by the voulume in the dish in the piston (if any) and the volume in the cylinder head chamber

a few ppl have reported dramas of poor running witht e EF cam put into a STOCK engine. Some say they drive great from the word go, I guess its something u have to try yourself. The way I see it, Im gonna try it soon, if she dont behave ill up the fuel pressure until she does, then eventually just fit an EB XR6 non S/L ECU

At the moment a friend of mine is investigating the possibility of getting the chips 'copied' and written in to a bunch of ecu's with removable chips he has recently aquired. He has a fair few ecus wed all like including a nonsmartlock falcon ss manual, ebxr non smartlock manual and a smartlock version, v8 manual. Ill have to keep pestering him to see what hes done so far.
