Picked up a blueprint xr6 n/a two weeks ago. Ever since there has been a high stench of fuel after you stop. Done almost 750km and runs optimax. Do the cars run really rich before their 3,000km check or should I be worried that something is wrong?? I have had cars that stink on a hot day, but not when it is 15-18 degrees.
I noticed the same smell in my brothers new XR6, as did my Dad....apparently the smell had been there ever since he filled up in Wangaratta (on the way down to Melbourne). However we both thought that the smell was because the pump didn't cut out and petrol got all over my Dad (who then obviously proceeded to get into the car and ride in it for the rest of the way). This seemed the most logical explanation, so I'm not sure ExLs1
Take it back to your dealer(service dept.) and get them to check all of the fuel system connections.
This is all warranty type work and won't cost you anything, except time.
