xr6 hp AU ecu into non xr6 ?Just wondering ??will it plug straight in and work?

yes, the XR ECU is slightly differnent but the engine will plug and play no problems..

I think am-bad did that to get the Auto XR6 adaptive shift and make his dev3 idle better then still went for a unichip in the end.

Is there that much a difference in performance for the dollars of doing it ?

The dollars just to get a better idle and a slightly more agrresive A/F mixtures probably aren't worth it unless you get one cheap but you also get an ecu that if its auto gives you adaptive shift and auto or manual will correct your speedo output for 3.45 diff gears and low profile 225/50R16 tyres with the correct light green speedo drive gear. So it has some other advantages.

I rang ford in Greenacre they did not want to do the software upgrade to xr6 software in my ecu.They said it would cost 200 dollars and they will not accept responsibility if I am unhappy.They tried to convince me that the xr6 hp was a totally different engine to the standard Au ford.They said it ran higher compression and all this other magical powder!!! I said to the guy at Ford that I will take the risk.

I then rang ford at Parramatta which said that a software upgrade cannot be done!!!??

Just looking at my owners manual...au 1999 it says xr6 vct hp and standard engine all run 9.65:1 compression...What is wrong with these guys?
