Just shopping around for insurance on a N/A BA XR6 and coming across a huge difference -
My current insurer (Allianz) will do it for $385/year (60% protected NCB, no under 30 driver etc), although they did say this could go up when my next premium would be due because of lack of data on BA's.
Thought I might take advantage of Ford $500 for $1500 worth of goodies offer and use part of it for insurance, Ford Insure wanted $1,100!!! and thats with 50% NCB (they don't take other insurers NCB into account).
I would be interested in hearing others approx. insurance figures to see what is closer to the mark, I was expecting maybe $600 or so and would expect Allianz to go up to around this mark when stats become available.
Might get a few more quotes and post them here too.
I'm quitting my Job and moving to WA TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!
Here in the armpit of Australian insurance premiums - Vietnamatta, NSW, I would hold a street party if I could get prices that cheap!
I'm over 30, 60% NCB and a reasonable driving record, so what did I get quoted;
NRMA (my previous long-term insurer) quoted me $2448 for agreed value.
Ford Insure was $1800 (just got that quote a while ago)
AAMI - would not insure in my neighbourhood
Allianz got my business at $1349 (a saving of $1099 on NRMA) with new for old replacement in the first 12 months, and agreed value after that.
Allianz seem quite cheap on the BA, so I'd go with them while you can and worry about the cheapest next year when next year comes around.
Cheers
Jason

Thanks guys, i'm a bit dubious about the $385, its basically a changeover from my current car which is about $320/year (EF XR6) and I pay that difference on a pro rata basis up until the October expiry of the current policy. But effectively its $385/year.
I'm going to call them back and double verify that figure.
Either way i'm ahead and can change in October if Allianz quote an outragous sum.
The link on Fords website shows XR scuff plates and when you click on the link, allows you to select the XR. My friend who i'm going thru said he couldn't see it a problem getting it as long as the car goes in my name - http://www.ford.com.au/showroom/acce...reedomPack.asp
Note on this page no mention of XT/Futura, just says BA Falcon.
