Just to summarize the previous few exciting months,
Alot of people here bought and drove many Ford models. I'm interested to know the drive impression for those 3 motors in an auto form regards low-mid-high rev range.
The only car I drove was the XR6T manual. It flies like a jet but wasn't very happy with the initial slight turbo lag below 2500. I'm used to V8s with that lovely low rpm torque that get's it off line in a blink.
So how does the 5.4 sohc with 470NM on 3250 rpm feels like?and does it lose breath at the top end? DavoXT bought a new V8 XT, what's your impressions so far?
And the BOSS 260 with 500 NM at 4250rpm, does that mean it lacks grunt down low? Alot of people noticed the lag in LS1 engines with very little torque below 3500 that makes it slow to take off unless revved hard, hope that's not the case with the DOHC 5.4
The stepoff in a 5.4 is just huge. If it was a manual you can release the clutch without throttle in first real easy. But for torque, you cant beat a 7.3 turbo diesel F-250 manual. Just unbelievable. Not clutch, 1st gear and turn the key ant start it. The truck just rolls forward into life. Just awesome. Nothing like 730nm at 1400rpm!!!

Must have been a dud. Turbo kicks in at 2000rpm. You can feel it and i saw it on the dyno.

hehe you mustn't drive a LS1, because they only come to life with a stack of RPM.
I know, I raced few SS ls1 in the streets and this torque at 4400 is just not doing it, specially for people driving auto.
And again, I was looking at the rpm while driving that XR6T, 2000 to 2500 something like that, and then u feel( at I felt!) as if I can't control this car anymore:) Certainly wasn't a dud. It was flying wih two big persons onboard and I forgot the AC on!
Ok, let's put it this way, which car of the above would absoltely fry 235-17" tyres in auto and simply by flooring the accelerator?

umm dude there is no comparison here. The XR8 rules the roost.
You can't beat the low rev torque of a cast iron block with DOHC.
I'd believe the claims of 400mn at 1000rpm.
