Funny thing about that. I don't use mine anymore! I find the quality of sound degrades a fair bit. That's just me though, I'm really picky!! Also with my JVC unit, fast-forwarding MP3s is a pain in the arse...

I only got standard speakers, not looking for anything special atm. Might be bit dodge with bugger system, but for now it does the job :)

Regardless of quality, I usually can tell between a real audio CD opposed to a MP3 - that is why I am after sound quality, not SPL.
That all depends on your setup, the actual encoder and decoder used, and the bitrate chosen. Double blind tests using encoders such as LAME at 256kbps have proven it extremely difficult if not impossible to pick the mp3 from the original source.
Of course, people will always debate that they can tell the difference...
