We had 5 AU's at work broken down as----1 AU2 f'mont ghia , 3 AU3 forte's (1 sed 2 wags) & 1 AU2 futura (wag) which were absolutly faultless in operation then they were slowly transformed into the BA's over the last 6 mths and out of the 5 newies we have 1 good one the XT sed the rest are Bloody Awful the biggest POS we have had and that is comparing them to the Commodores as well
The ghia has broken down about 7 times in the last 2 mths - the electrics have a gremlin that no one can find and the 2 XT wags have a internal water leak you have a shower on the inside when it rains on the outside and the futura wag blows the headlight fuse at least 1 a week.
IMHO the new BA's have a lot of work to catch up on the quality of the AU's

allow me to show you the alternative to ford: http://www.holden.com.au/ - if you want SERIOUS quality problems, give them a go for about 6 months or so, then let us know which is better!
But seriously, mate it's series I. By the sounds of it you've gotten a pretty bad batch of BA's, series 2 will no doubt fix the problems series I is having (thats why there are different series' in the first place), and to be honest i find it hard to believe you could have that many problems without doing something wrong, or treating the cars badly?! Im not meaning to have a go at you or anything, but i have never heard of someone who has had such bad luck with so many cars. Maybe you should take up cycling instead!
We actually lease the cars so in hind sight we really don't give a toss about the quality of the cars but trying to get things rectified thru the warranty is like pulling teeth they just don't care it is a leased gov't car.
If they were my own cars I would be absolutly spewing And we actually chose Ford & Toyota over the Holdens because of this reason the series 2 should be a lot better , they need a series 1 to iron the bugs out.
Cycling - could you imagin a fat public servant bureaucrat on a deadly treadly ----

lol depending on what department you work in you might be a target if you rode to work. do you work in the tax department? if so i'd be guessing thats why your cars 'break down' so much, with a little help!
must be a problem with that Queensland weather dosn't like the BA.....
AAHHH QLD beatuiful 1 day god damn hot and sweaty the next , too much humidity for a BA - they were made in Melb ???? use to the local environment
BTW how do you tell it is summer in Melb ---- The rain is warmer :) J/K

Hi Alan B, i did live in sunny QLD once in Coolangatta my mum still lives there it is a great place for a visit for tourists . but if you want to make a good dollar get out of QLD there wages and conditions are appalling .
thats why i am here... my mom stays in QLD she is working for $14 an hour casual in a nursing home ..
where abouts do you live in QLD ??
Hey my BA ute is a great car, it puts the shits up stock gen3's if you can get some traction...
And yes I have had a few problems, it sounds like a shitty old jap rattley 4 banger(charf cutter!), my service department replaced the Alternator, got rid of some of the noise's, but it just unveiled more noise's that couldnt be heard over the alt!
For some strange reason after 5 visits(I live some 200km's from them)the service group became immune to these noise's "thats the way they sound" I was told "its the overhead cam's, all over head cam motor's are noisey" WTF is this crap, why does this big name dealer service group think I am so @#$%^& stupid!
I was so close to ramming this service group managers head in the middle of the 3 valve 5.4 inlet manifold and then say "can you hear it now %$#@", I left very agrovated and gave the ute a bitta stick and got !@#$%^ caught for dangerous drivin(coppers dont like 100m snakeys)
I go to a different dealer now...and their ears are A O K
4 injectors are cactus
1 of the cams is rooted on 2 lobes/followers(or sumthing)
Too be fixed next Monday
Other than this dealer problem I am very happy with my purchase, and will be buying Ford next time too...

Happy points:
Looks - can't beat the bulge. turns quite a few heads.
Handling - I have been pleasantly surprised at how well the @ss end hangs together on the ute when spiritedly driven :o)!
Performance - nice grunt, loves to rev.
Not So Happy:
No redline indicator - still annoys me.
Front too low (Scraps when parking infront of curbs)
The sound coming from the V8 doesn't sound like a 351 heheh.
This is the first Ford I've ever owned and also the first Ute. I'd give it a 8/10. If somoene can find the exhaust setup im looking for...I'll pump it up to 9.5!
Having previously owned toyotas I was warned that Fords and Holdens won't match in terms of quality. I can say, at this stage, I have been pleasantly surprised.
