Might be a silly question, but how is the distance to empty calculated by the car? Is it based on the average fuel consumption at the time of re-fill?
If so, does it adjust itself in the case of wild swings in the fuel read out? For example... you put fuel in your car after standing on throttle all the way to the servo (fuel read out is 15-20 lt/100)... then you gently take off and cruise at less than 2000 rpm on an empty highway.
