ZF 6-speed g'box

I am looking at a BF Fairmont Ghia and see it comes standard with the new ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox. Any experiences out there that I should be aware of (good or bad)?

Re: ZF 6-speed g'box

Thing is first driving the thing you think, its smooth but difference isnt that great. BUT!! Drive the 6 speed for a few days, and jump back into the 4 speed, and you'll think the 4 speed is rubbish!

Its like dialup vs broadband. You change to broadband you dont think its much faster but get use to the broadband, change back to dialup and you'll think the same thing absolute crap!

Ive driven a ZF 6 worth every penny.

I want one too. Badly. I wonder how you'd go about buying one and whacking it in a BA?

The only negative I've read about them was in November Motor mag.

here's the quote:

.......but here's the catch: The ZF folks reckon 95-degrees is the upper operating temperature for its box.
"So," says Prodrive team boss, Adam, "we're trying to cool a transmission with coolant that is already hotter than the gearbox's maximum operating temperature."
What's the solution? Adam shrugs his shoulders. Apparently, the fix for this is still to be decided on.

Un-quote.

Just what you want to hear.

I still want one though.
