Well ladies and gentlement, the bloody thing died. Driving on Pittwater Road this afternoon, stopped at lights next to a bus, I think, gees the bus doesn't sound to good, next lights, Oh shit, the bus wasn't making the noise, my gearbox is. Try and take off to get into a side street and the car doesn't want to move until 2300rpm, then it gets going like a rocket, Hmmm, I'm thinking torque converter, but will have to wait and see what Ford say tomorrow.
1 hour wait for service guy to say, gees I don't know
45 min wait for tow truck in the rain
45 min wait for taxi again on the side of the road in the rain
1 hour trip home
2 pissed off passengers
1 pissed off me
FPV's policy on broken down vehicles sucks, I think I will be back to paying NRMA, first FPV have to send a guy to see if something is wrong, who had never been near a GT, then a tow truck, at least NRMA would have towed the first time and towed 50km then made me pay. FPV tow to the nearest Ford dealer which is 75km from where I live and from my local dealer who I bought the car from. I don't want these guys to fix my car, I want my local Ford/FPV guys to fix the car, and how the f**k am I going to get back to this dealer to collect my car, another $130 taxi trip. My local dealer would give me a loan car, do you think these guys will, I suspect it will be at least 3 days without a car, maybe 5. Of course the token $100 taxi ride home free, but still I had to pay $30 on top. It would have not cost more than $150 to get the car towed to my dealer and I would have been home with the tow truck for free.
Not happy Jan, 30,000km and 1 dead gearbox

Not good, sorry to hear about that. Any idea whats happened to it yet ?
When I broke my drive shaft, I insisted that it went past my local dealer and 20 min drive to the better workshop. I dont know what you said to them, but be more persistant so you get your way, local knowledge sort of thing. Keep us informed of your progress.
Pity it wasn't a bit further out?..... Motel etc (going by the Premium package)
Hmmmm, Makes dragging at Heathcote more attractive!(100ks away )
Seriously though DGROMS.com... Hope its not TOO bad, AND is a one off!... I thought these Auto's were indestructable?

Mine was starting to do the same thing, taking about 4 seconds to get going in reverse, unless you gave it a bit. I had driven the car for 80km through peak hour traffic with absolutely no sign of problems, it just happened all of a sudden. It would have been a killer for the quater mile as it seemed to definately be the torque converter, it wouldn't take off then all of a sudden as you gave it a little at about 2300RPM all the power kicked in and started trying to fry the rears.
Thanks for the support, It will be fixed, it is under warranty for sure, I haven't heard from the dealer yet, the car hasn't been delivered, it was in a holding yard overnight. It won't work out ok though, I am sure they will change the box, but surely it will take a few days to get a new one and then fit, so my weekend vacation that I have been planning for the last 2 months is ruined and it will cost me another $140 to get back to my car to collect it again so I will be out of pocket $180, I dont have a car so I cannot do my job without spending even more money on a hire car and my family has to catch public transport which will cost me even more. I probably should have just hired the tow truck myself and dropped it to the local guys
Cheers
David

I believe FPV will deliver the car back to you after it is fixed. Check the docs you got on the Premium service. As for the dealer thing, when my car died I specifically asked for it to be towed to the selling dealer location which FPV gladly obliged to. I don't know why your case was different (although now I think about it I never hit them up for my taxi ride DOH!)
