I have a 1991 Bird that would not shift out of 1st gear. I changed the trans, and it still does the same thing. It is an electronic OD unit. There is a cable that goes from the trans to the throttle body.
Is there an electronic piece I need to change? Or a simple fix?
If it's not shifting out of 1st then either your TV cable is WAY out of adjustment, or the servos that actuate each band are gone.
Looks like you need to take it to a shop. If you have a Cottman Transmissions shop in your area, I highly recommend them-that's where ALL of my cars go for trans service
