i have a 1996 ranger 4 cyl automatic trans.

1st prob. the overdrive button in the steering wheel became intermitent, then did not work at all.

2nd at high freeway speed, trans. kicks out of gear then back in.

3rd. same trip got stuck in a lower gear, pulled off road let it sit, turned key on and off. then worked fine.

1) is it just the botton in the colomn.
2) is it a computer problem

Have it checked for DTCs (Diagnostic Troubkle Codes); ask local AutoZone if they still do it for free.
