the ford 2.77.1 diff, from a NA fairlane, are this diff's an LSD? or just open wheeler? (i do a fair bit of long distance driving so it would be okay for the moment)
I'd be looking at putting it into a ED falcon 5 speed ... I know its a tall gearing, but i'd be using the tail shaft that was from a NA ...
any advise?

You'l get sick of the 2.77. Especially with the 3.25 first gear ratio it will be a real killer. The box will have to 'absorbe' more torque for the want of a better wat to describe it. Jack had an ea box whish has the 3.5 first ratio with a 2.77 and even with the shorter gearing it was terrible apparently. See how you like it I guess. Diffs are dirt cheap and easy to change.
Yeah I'm running a 2.77:1 on my manual EA while I fix the other one, and it's horribly slow. But it's great for highway driving, although even at 100km/h I rarely use 5th gear.
ok first do you run abs? if so forget it you cant do it.. NA diff is non abs 25 spline axle.. ED is 28 spline..and has the abs ring on the back.if no abs you may need to use EA lower arms and push out the front bush and put in the EB bush
yup, 2.77:1 came in LSD when i was looking for an LSD the wreckers had at least 2-3 on hand... but the ratio is too tall and i ended up getting a 3.27 LSD from an EB Fairmont, because i couldnt find a 3.45!
it set me back $350 with the matching tailshaft, trailing arms and all fitted as well.
not sure if this is what you meant.. but EA NA to EB1 diffs are the same.. same everything.. the lower arms changed after EB2.. he asked if NA diff fitted in to ED.. they can after mods only.. So what you brought was an EB1 diff..
