Can someone please tell me where in perth I can have my diff converted to a 3.45 LSD...I have rang about 15 wreckers and found one diff which was from a ED Fairmont but they want $880 changeover!! and then it still might need work!!
I have rang diff places and they want $1200 - $1400 to change the gears in my current diff (3.27 single wheeler)
Who has actually had this conversion done?
How much did it cost?
Where did you get it done?
Thanks!!
PS sorry if this has been brought up, i have tried searching but cant find posts with someone who has DONE it, not just talked about doing it. Thanks heaps.
Unfortunately for a new LSD centre, and crown wheel and pinion, and for a decent job, including wheel bearings and axles where needed, you will be looking around the 1200 mark.
If you plan on keeping the car, spend the extra and get a decent job done, as they can be expensive, if need to be done again.

OK Fair enough I would rather pay $1200 than $880 + $1200.
Any recommendations as to where I should get it done, preferably in the Osborne Park area?
I got a 3.45LSD centre from an XR6 for $400 from a wrecker. The centre had only 100,000ks on it, and I had it fitted to my existing diff which was perfectly fine and had good axles and bearings all for $300 with a new bearing and gaskets.
This 1200 buck business is a big rip off deal imo. Just look around for a decnet centre and get it fitted to your existing diff!
or even if you can find a 2.92/3.27 LSD at a wreckers and get a set of 3.7 or 3.45 gears from a VL/R31to R33 skyline diff you can get a diff shop to build that up, and maybe give them your diff as an exchange.
also: the ABS and non-ABS diffs are different, so make sure if you have ABS you get the right one, and if you dont dont get a ABS diff - it will fit and be OK, but axles etc are much more expensive for the ABS version.
