OK guys I have a problem & am not in the mood for sarcastic replies .......
Tonight on the way home I heard what something hit the undercarrage of the ea (nothing abnormal on these country roads)....slowed down & nothing seemed amiss ......went back to 100k's ......then all of a sudden the car started shuddering......
I stopped & checked underneath ......nothing abnormal......checked under the bonnet & the transmision dip stick was unattached ......asin the whole assmebly :(
I cant get any gears & there seems to be no tranny fluid anywhere......& yes I checked it today & if anything it was a little over the high mark on the dipstick .....the dip stick didnt seem loose at all when I checked it .....
My question ........ Best & Worse case senarios ????????
Worse case (but extremely unlikely) dip stick has been munched in lots of little bit some have jammed in clutch sunwheel assemblies breaking lots of parts. Best case (and more likely) stick has broken and a piece is jammed somewhere stopping something turning. Tale the trans sump off and you may soon know.
..or the sump has huge dent and whatever hit it knocked the dipstick and tube out... even more likely (and might explain why fluid seems high). New sump filter and valve body might take care of it.
Just to let you know guys, the worse case senario has hit :(
The gear box has parted company with the bell housing ......not the engine ....the bell housing .....;(
When we dropped it today we found the torque converter has only 1 tab thinggy .......& the 2nd is really fine in thickness :( , the gear box where it attaches to the bell housing is missing a huge chunk out of the bottom rim ............
