manual definately, 5 speed if you have the cash, but if your a little strapped the 4 speed is still awesome. i have the 4 speed in mine and am really happy with it. got it converted from the 3 speed about 4 months ago. still only revs at about 2-2100rpm at 100.
cheers.

Paul.

well anyone would choose an overdriven manual rather than a 3 speed auto, but in this day and age an automatic trans are far more superior to most manual gearboxes

Re: 5 or 4 speed manual or 3 speed auto in an xf 4.1

I'd go the 5 speed and go for 3.45 diff gears.

But I have been told that the ford 5 speed don't like alot of power...

4 speed Manual if your only using the car around town. If you travel a lot... 5 speed manual. And if you can't drive a manual or can't afford to do the upgrade like me... 3 speed auto.

But Ron in the XF's day and age they weren't!

My answer: 5sp any day of the week. Unless you really have to have an auto.
