whats on the 302 now, if its a 4speed single rail CRS has a bell housing to fit a T5 which uses all single rail stuff even tail shaft i think, the gear box mount will need to be modified a little
Re: 5 or 6 speed conversion for an xe with a 302 clevo
spot on dean, if you have a single rail or top loader you can basically just buy a T5 box seperate and get hold of a CRS custom bell housing. Slight mods to the g/box cross member and it'll bolt up sweet
Just make sure you consider the future plans for the engine. Otherwise I highly reccommend late model g/box as long as you can get one thats reasonably priced.

thanks everyone and nothing much is really done to it and not alot more will be done to it. and wat sorta prices are the norm.
p.s. its got a top loader 4 speed not sure wat.

Re: 5 or 6 speed conversion for an xe with a 302 clevo
I picked up a v.g.c. ED XR8 T5 box and CRS bellhousing for $900 private sale, than had to buy clutch, master/slave cylinders, etc. seperate and installed myself.
I think wreckers were quoting $2200-2500 for full conversion V8 T5's.
If you could get one cheap enough, i'd be interested if a Holden Gen 3 6 speed could be made to bolt up, but probably to much hassle.
Good thing about a Ford box is the insurance companies won't complain, so keep that in mind!!!
Fuel economy changed from 20L to 15L per 100km on LPG. well worth it long term.

Depends on your definition of weak as piss, W58 would be more than adequate behind a 302. I've got a w58 behind a 351 and have had no problems. Mind you I dont enter burnout competitions but it would be at least as strong as a T5. W58 boxes were fitted to turbo supras as well as R154 boxes.
