Hi, I'm new to this place and need help :(
My brother recently purchased an 89 Mercury Sable 3.0 V6. The tranny only works in reverse and won't move forward at all. No noise from the tranny or drivetrain. Driving reverse is also without any sound. Oil is already changed and the old one was without any strange smell or debris. My guess is something in the control unit whether it's vac. or electronic. Has anyone a clue where to start ? Being in Germany makes it a little difficult to ask a dealer about a car he has never seen here nor could we find a new/used tranny over here. Are there any japanese (Mazda) cars using the same tranny ?

Usually when these transmissions only have reverse, it means that you trashed one of the planetary gearsets....big money.
