Question 8inch with 9inch gears

My xm coupe is running a 8inch traction lock from a xrgt and ive heard a little bit of talk about installing 9inch crown and pinion gears onto the 8inch carrier .
does any body know whats involved in doing this?
the ratio at the moment is 3.25 and id like to change it for fuel economy on a5000k road trip im planning

For the ammount of money you'll spend machining your diff housing and changing diff gears your probably better off just spending that in the fuel on your trip, why don't you invest in an overdrive gearbox?
