Hi ...hope you are well today...Firstly Iwould like to find out where can I get a conversion of my au wagons' diff to maybe 9 inch or 8 inch lsd here in sydney.I also have been advised by some forum members that 3.5 ratio and up would be the go. Please bear in mind that I do quite alot of driving at 110 kph(freeway driving).I had a 3.5 ratio on my old xc falcon and it slowed down from this and revved too much...is the ford 4 speed auto easier revving with this ?
useless, I have a 3.45 LSD in mine and it revs about 100rpm higher at 100kph then the EF wagon I have.
No need to change the actual diff, just the diff center.
Thanks again man.If the axles are the same I might go and see my mate from the local wreckers and do it myself .I wonder what other ratios are available..if im gonna do it get the best I can.... :wnc:
I rang around a while ago and for full rebuild incl bearings, lsd, new everything on exchange basis was $780 drive in drive out. that was for any ratio. that price was from a place in greenacre from memory.
just fyi, you can get 345 led from pick a part in narellan i think for about $400. disc to disc with around 100k
id like to know how they can do a NEW diff for 780, on an exchange basis, seing that an LSD Hemisphere is $650, gear sets are $550, and bearings are $200 odd. None of that includes labor.
got quoted 1100 dollars for ratio change....said something about 3.7 and fourth gear..didnt hear the guy phone was crackly.Has anyone put 3.7 in an au auto???

I got quoted today for a ratio swap to 3.45 at $750 big difference!! $350 to be exact. I think my exisitng ratio is 3.23 ..cant find id tag dammit..To got to a 3.45 the increase is...3.45/3.23 =1.068111= 10.68 %So it will rev harder by this amount and therefore get me into under 7 second bracket..
Walkinshaw goes to the top of the class for maths guys.
3.45 is 7% lower geared and 3.73 is 15%.
Like this 3.45/3.23=1.068 lets say 1.07 or 7% more turns for the same speed.
