A4LD Transmission
Bought a used 94 Ford Explorer, 4.0 liter motor, and 150,000 miles. Two months later the tranny goes out while I was traveling. The transmission shop stuck me for $1800.00 for a rebuild. Two months later the tranny went again. The affiliate Mr. Atlas transmission shop in my local area covered the warrenty and got me going again. Six months later, the tranny goes again. The warrenty work was done 1 more time...Now its Mar 03, and guess what? My tranny went dead.
Last week I put another tranny in that I ordered from Phoenix rebuilders. I have two questions......
1. Its leaking from the seal behind the shift lever. Is there a possiblity that over time the leak will seal itself? Imkinda thinking that the seal is dried out and overtime it will "come back to life.
2. Its shifting from 1st to 2nd at 25 MPH. Seems to me that it should shift sooner than that. When should it shift and what can be done to change it?
Thanks in advance for any assistance .........
