Question ATF filter change 05 CVPI

I read this thread...
ATF Change

Now not sure I even want to attempt dropping pan and changing filter and topping off fluid...

Should I just leave it alone and avoid the potential headache???

Cannot afford a major repair at this time...

2005 crown vic interceptor with 85000 miles on it.....

pinkish with a dirty look...

I have already dropped the pan today....

cleaned it all out not as bad as I expected

except..... I found this in my pan (No, not the quarter)HELP!!!!

what is it and how does it go back in????

It's the clean plug they put in after making the tranny. They push it on through when they push in the dipstick. Just discard it.
