Hi guys

looking to buy AU II or III XR8 in the next few weeks.
After looking on the CR club of vic, they had a fair discussion on the series 2 & 3 having faulty valve bodies in the auto transmittion, causing a nice clunk of a downchange when you decelerate to a stop. Any of you's guys with this models heard or experienced this ??
Any any other common probs with these models i should look out for when sifting through the car yards of sydney ??

I have experienced this on my AU II at various speeds on the auto downshift there will be a clunk from the auto. Its a rare occurance and difficult to reproduce (for me) Which is a pain to explain to a mechanic. It may not do it for weeks then CLUNK down shifting decellerating from 110 through 100 or 60 thru 40 down hill. It seems when there is negative pressure on the auto change down. Has anyone got a fix 4 this??

I did experiance this only a few time's but since getting the unichip and mod's at Herrod's it hasn't happened since,I've also changed my driving style and not bringing the car to a almost complete stop then going again like when coming to a stop or give way sign,I now slowly decelerate and move around the corner's at a progresive speed, I think it was, changing back to 1st and then back up again straight away that was causing this thud,but touch wood it is all fine.

I have had this clunk at 100. I hope it wasn't in 1st???
