I have a 99 Fairmont Ghia running the tickford 6 cyclinder. It's all stock standard. The car's gear changes a rough, especially when the transmission is hot. The biggest problem is the 3-2/4-2 kickdown which causes a real jolt. The trasmission's just been serviced and I have fitted an oil cooler - also to no real benefit.
I've taken the car to Ford who tell me that the solinoids are fine - they could of course just have been saying this to avoid having to pay for repairs.
Can anyone advise how to diagnose this problem. Could this be a band adjustment problem?
