Is it possible to change my diff in my ED from 3.08 to 3.23 LSD? Do I have to change the computer? Or is it just the speedo?

I always thought you the auto gets confused but I heard from another thread i don't hav to. If not, then I wanna get one! Maybe out of a Ghia or something.

I cannot understand why there would be computer issues with this change. The speedo would need to be corrected, as with any mod of this nature. Quite a few people have changed diff ratios and I've never heard of computer issues.

Just change the speedo gear to get the speedo to read correct again. Sometimes the auto computer will have issues as the shift points can lose their point of reference, moving up? or down? the rev range. Probably only show up under hard acceleration though.

How much is it to get an LSd fully fitted into an EF?

To get an LSD do you have to replace the whole axel or just the gear set? And I too would be interested how much if anyone knows.

To get LSD you replace the hemisphere only. You can use your crown wheel and pinion, so look at about $770+bearings+labour.

Ok sweet - thats for a new diff I assume?

What is the actual ratio I should get? I know the XR6 has 3.45 but I think that is too short for a luxo mobile. I am happy with the 3.08, I just want the LSD. Being 3.23..? thats just a bonus?

Should I look at getting the diff out of an XR8 or Ghia? they are both 3.23 arent they?

I was talking to a guy about a unichip and we were discussing the ford factory ECU's. He said that ford developed 3 different gearbox shift maps (auto's) for 2.92 and 3.27 diff ratio's. These came into effect on EB2 series cars. There was a different shift pattern for wagon and fairlane models aswell. Im not sure with shift map the 3.08 or 3.45 diffs ran. So i assume that if u have a 2.92 and u swap for a 3.27 then the shifts will occure slightly earlier with the new diff.

Who would be the best person to talk to about this sort of Ford thing, like it would be a fairly difficult question to answer. You'd have to be in the know.
