Hey All...
Please dont get pissed with me for having a second go at this post... but anyway

im currently in the process of changing over from manual to auto in my '87 XF... now tell me if im wrong...

i have the auto and everything that goes with it all here (inc. box, wiring looms, cooler pipes - auto radiator is already in the manual)

now do i have to change the fly wheel's? and also are the rear mounts the same between the man. and the auto?

So all i have to do is pull the tail shaft out of man, then pull box and clutch out, pull the manual wiring loom off, then install the new box and torque converter, plug in all wiring, then do all the cooler lines up, then install the tail shaft again. Then remove clutch pedal and clutch cable and keep going with my manual brake pedal...

Now is there anything wrong with that?

You will need a flex plate and bolts, and I believe you will have to remove the spigot bush. I think XF will also have a vacuum line and a kickdown cable to the auto?

flex plate???

yeah kick down cable is there... no vacuum line that i know of...
how hard is it to remove the spigot bush?

You can get a tool to remove the spigot bush. Flex plate is the light tin plate with the ring gear on it to connect to the torque converter. Manual flywheel is a heavy cast iron item.

So flex plate is the flywheel on the auto?

Well, essentially, yes. The flexplate allows physical connection and starter operation, if you want to get real technical I suppose the T/C actually acts as the flywheel. (rotating mass.)

ok, hopefully if all goes well, on wednesday night i will be drinving an auto XF,

now this is what i have out of my wreck:

Box,
Flexplate,
Torque Converter,
Tailshaft,
Shifter,
Wiring Loom,
Radiator,
Cooler Pipes,
Kick Down Cable and Bracket

I Might change pedal box over, if i ever feel bored, but at the moment im just gonna pull the clutch pedal out.

Is there anything im forgetting... i hope not cause im not in the mood to get under this car in 41 degree heat
