Hey guys,

I've currently only got the stock 4sp auto gearbox and I'm told it won't handle much more than about 150rwkw. I'll be pushing more through that soon so I'm wondering how much longer the gearbox will last.

What can I replace it with that'll be tough? I mean virtually unbreakable. My car's a daily driver so reliability is necessary. Breaking gearboxes isn't something I wanna do.

Do the GM Turbo 700s fit?

Cost isn't a major factor but obviously the cheaper the better.

Whoever is telling you that is telling you bullsh!t. The box should handle alot more but it needs to be modified. Mind being a 95 EF copes with ~200rwkw thanks to a supercharger and at the strip handles an extra 100hp of NOS. The EF is a later box but generally it is the same.

Now the mods you may have to consider are:-
Definately more line pressure ( my failure and rebuild ). The line pressure exerts more clamping force on the bands. A shift kit may do the job but not sure. I think it only shortens the shift time not the clamping pressure.
And possibly a transmission cooler but not necessary to cool the fluid. The cooler fluid the longer the box will last.

No doubt he's spinning crap, hence I thought I'd ask the guys who'd know.
Apparently there's no shift kit for my gearbox either. If you know of one, and who can supply I'd love to know. My shift time has been shortened already via the chip, so...

What kinda blower you got? And what PSI?

I have electronic shift kits available for the BTR 4 Speed.
Mine currently runs 220 rwhp and the box is original @ 230,000 kms and only now is starting to play up a bit..

Much of an install?

I hope to be at about 260rwhp.
The shift times and points have been modified through the Chiptorque chip already.

The chiptorque chips up the line pressure already as well as change shift points. Get a good cooler, the best you can find and see how it goes when you do the engine mods. If the shifts are a bit sloppy, fit an adjustable S5 solenoid, or the electronic shift kit that 9psi EB has.

Do those coolers have their own radiator that sits in the front bar? If so, I've pretty much got no room left thanks to the intercooler. I'll find a way around that.
