Whats the cause of it?

When you plant your foot, and it takes over a second for the car to realise you want to go fast....

For example, when you want to overtake someone. You pull out onto the right lane, plant it, but it does nothing for a good second, before realising, dropping gear and going. Can anything be done about this?

my AU2 does it, and it's ****en annoying.

Is this a thing of auto tranny in general? Or special characterisitcs of the Au2 auto?

Auto's in general. You could get a shift kit.

ive got a eb falcon and thats even more sluggish, the computers are usually programmed to gear shift in a way thats econimical and less harsh on the trans, so therefore it takes forever to change, u could try a chip, but there usually a waste of time on a stock car unlesss its programmable, so i would recommend putting a shift kit or converting 2 manual

I run an Adjustable S5 solenoid and modified valve body in my trans and there is no delay at all. You can also get the cheaper electronic shift kit but that is much harsher at low rpm.

Can you tell me how they actually modified your valve body?
Mine is going in on Thursday for a service and adjustable S5 solenoid and I don't want to miss something whilst I have the opportunity.

I had it done a while ago but from memory they said it involved opening up the oil lines in certain areas which allowed better line pressures and quicker shifting. Also had the valve body replaced with a AU XR8 spec one, don't know if there is much difference between them though.
