I just wanted to get peoples suggestions and info on the best place (workmanship and price) to change my EF XR6 from auto to manual. I have made a few calls to Ford dealerships and they either do not do it or refer me to some places that will, but are charging about $4000 to complete all the work.

Can anyone please help, I live in Melbourne in the Eastern suburbs.

In summary, I recommend purchasing the parts seperately, possibly from a wrecker, and getting a trusted mechanic to install them. It won't total anywhere near $4000.
