Question Auto to Manual convertions

Is it worth it??

I have a great car, but the auto trans is just not picking up enough down low speeds... (0-60)

I have a quite modified CAM (was in it when i bought it) and find the low revs dont pick up at all, but once over the 3000rpm just bolts over to 5.

I have thought about converting it to manual for a while now, but the cost is quite considerable.

Would it be better to chuck a stage and shift kit to almost bolt onto the existing trans??

??!!Any Comments!!??

Perhaps try a new diff ratio (eg. 3.7s?)

I will be selling my immaculate 3.45s once i find set of 3.9s hehe :)

From what i can see it's about $1800 or so for the conversion (bellhousing, clutch, gearbox, crossmember, pedal box etc.)

I live in the country, so most of the time im sittin on 110km. If I get different ratio diff I will be sittin on much higher revs at high speeds (100-120)

go for the manual, not worth changing the ratio when you live in country areas, but a shift kit in the auto might be ok,
manual would still kick ass tho.

Your Cam is the reason you lack low down urge , it obviously has a higher power band, maybe you should look at a Cam that offers more low down.

Cheaper and easier than converting to manual

Try a 6-speed

You might like to give the master Rob Herrod a call on 03-9464-5100. Tell him what cam you've got and it may well be that a 6-speed is the answer you are looking for. THat's what I will putting in mine and it's literally unbreakable!

Do the conversion!!!

I have converted from auto to manual over a year ago, and it's the best performance mod I have done.

I first tried to get the EA off the line better with a higher set of diff gears, engine work bla bla bla, however, its nothing comparted to the take off of a 5 speed.
Just take one for a drive and see for your self!!!
