my car kinda lunges forward when i am driving down the street. its kinda like it has power for a sec and then doesn't have power. is it something to do with the trans or is it something with the engine. it does it whenever i get on the gas. doesn't matter how much i hit the gas its just when i hit the gas not when im slowing down at all

Could be lots of things. Could be a bad tranny. Could be a dying altenator & battery. Could be a leaky fuel line or vaccum hose. Could be a problem in your electricl system (plug, wire, cap, rotor, etc.), and it could be worse. You should try to diagnose it more by seeing if anything else is acting funny. Are you getting any interference in your radio or dimming lights? Is your charge light coming on? Does it seem like its electrical, mechanical or fuel related? Do you smell gas? Do you go through too much gas? Do you hear a whistling noise?

I think it's the trans., mine used to do that I think your in between gears and also it's shifting gears. Thats what makes you feel like you're going forword.
