Auto -> Triptronic Conversion?

How hard is this?

I know the manual conversion is basically impossible and not worth it due to the billion things which need to change. But what about trip tronic? My guess is that you would only need to piggy back the gear box without needing to change much internals.

I just want more control over the gear changes on the auto. I can feel that i'm loosing sooo much power, it's annoying,

Car is a 2000 Forte AU2.

A manual conversion is far from impossible and well worth the bucks if you enjoy driving a manual car :)

Manual conversion would certainly be a lot easier than fitting a Tiptronic box!
Given that you seem to have the money to spend on a Tiptronic, the cost of an AU manual box should not be an issue I suggest you chase down one of them, much more fun anyway if you ask me

Yes, a Tiptronic would still not be like having a proper manual box of course, but if you wanted to fit one, I've been thinking that Ford's ESS system (as used in T-series cars) shouldn't be that hard to fit. I still have to find out for sure if you need to mod any internals of the gearbox (eg. valving etc.), but if not, all you'd need is the mode button on the gear-lever surround and the Momo steering wheel which has the gear change buttons built-in. If you want the proper display in your instrument cluster, then you'd have to put a T-series cluster in also. These things should just plug straight into the ECU AFAIK. Then the only challenge would be to get someone to re-flash your ECU with the ESS programming. The most expensive bit of this would be the steering wheel I figure (depending if/what internal mods were needed to the auto box of course). It's something I intend to look into later as I like my auto too much for various reasons to want to swap it for a manual, but like you I'd like a little more 'manual' control.
