I have a problem with my 4-speed auto '91 EB Falcon GL.
Gear change from 3rd to 4th is delayed like it needs more revs, and changing down while showing down and stopping it gives a big shunt at 20Km/h.
4th usually kicks in at 60Km/h, but it labors in 3rd while driving in town, and while slowing down to stop is a bone-shattering experience while waiting for it to kick-down.
I have owned the car for 4 years, and had the engine replaced aprox 60,000Km ago, and the problem has occured on and off for the whole time. Transmission has been serviced with no problems found, even technicians cannot find a problem.
Is it the transmission, or a combustion problem, can anyone help. I am stumped.
my EA did the same thing before it was stolen, a service fixed it up for a little while but the problem remained. I reckon its the auto on its way out, because when it was stolen my car came back with the auto completely shot. And the theives only had it for a little while
i had the slowing down problem, where it'd get to about 300rpm STILL in 4th. and refused to kick down to 3rd etc.
my problem was a caused by the car running on LPG, the mixture was too lean and was struggling for fuel as the car slowed down.
i took the car to an transmission specialist and he told me it wasnt the trans, read any ECU codes (wasnt any) and told me to check the fuel's.
