Just got the young blokes BA back from the dealers and was told "get this" driveline shunt is a normal thing for V8 manuals!!! So if you buy a new BA and it hasn't got the shunt there must be something wrong with it??? I DONT THINK SO !!! what sort of BS are they trying to get me to swollow? anyway this isn't the last of it thats for sure.........

If my new one has any driveline shunt and the service dept gives me that line he may just be getting a shunt of his own....

Not a good answer to give some one that has just paid $35000 - $80000 for a car. Oh its a normal thing. B*llsh*t.

lol what a crock of shit... My GTP has about quarter the shunt my T3 had and i didnt find that bad.. My GT has fuk all...

I recon its time to get these cars that have the bad shunt and get them fixed and send ford the bill.. if this is how they going to be...

Yep my T3 has little or no shunt but it did when new, And the same Ford dealer sent it to a diff guy that I know to be fixed,when I picked the car up from him we got talkin and he said there doing them all the time for years, Borg warner are not setting the diffs up properly and this is a common fault with this diff, there is also another problem thats makes the shunt worse, the LSD brake off pressure is not right, the cones are shimmed to light and that makes the shunt worse, this guy has done my EBGT/EFXR8 and now my T3 all with the same trouble, He removes the diff that by the way "cant be done at the dealers" shimmes the cones to the right pressure then resets the crownwheel & pinoin the take the lash out and bingo a diff that works the way it should. ............

I thought the dana diff was the only one they were having trouble with in the BA....
sounds like the service guy might have his excuses around the wrong way..

Other than my diff whining.....it does produce shunting or clunking...and it's an auto!

Don't you get sick of their BS excuses. When I had my ute in for a 2000k service last year...I told them it had a tappet noise on start up when cold and they said that was a common thing with the Boss engines....I have been coping this BS for years from them with differant things wrong with my vehicles....but now unless the wheels fall off it...the engines blows a part into a million pieces or the transmission falls out and gets hammered by the diff.....I'll just keep driving it for another 12 months and trade it again.

If I wanted a vehicle for 4 or 5 years I wouldn't buy a BA....no way!!

my t3 has done 62000km and has done it BAD from new- any suggestions as to angle of approach to Ford would be much appreciated.

Yes, forget Ford go to your local diff guy tell him you want the cones shimmed up so the LSD works properly, and to reset the diff so there is no lash, then pay for it yourself, thats what the sons gonna have to do, Approx cost $350 Im not gonna put up with this crap anymore.But first we are gonna try another dealer and see how we go..........

By the way, for any of you that have got this problem, when I got all three cars done the problem was solved! all three are as sweet as a nut, Just have to be a little more carefull in the wet if you know what I mean......

When you guys say shunt, do you mean that large THUD i am hearing when it drops back a gear when accelerating?
I have an XR6 auto.
Ford looked at it today and mumbled something about retentioning some part.
Not sure.... I have not had a good drive yet to see if it is fixed.
Something for tomorrow.
