BA XR8 Auto Gearing

OK, so it's common knowledge now that the auto box in the BA XR8s has a rediculously high first gear. Until I drove it, I thought that all the talk of it not being able to do burnouts was down to lack of skill.

Has anyone heard of someone actually changing the ratios of first gear to get a bit more ooompf off the line???

Lowering the diff ratio is not really an option, as I do a lot of highway miles, and dont want the thing revving off its tits.

Speaking of which, 2200rpm @ 110km/h sounds a bit high for a long stroke V8. I'd be interested to know if other people think the same, or if they are getting different readings.

Cheers
