Greatings,
Just thought I would let pepole know what I have been told over the past week or so in regaurds to my tail shaft.
I took my ute to my man as you would, thinking it was the diff.
He called me with good news "Its not the diff" bad news "It's the rear c.v" This did not concern me as I was thinking yeah UNI JOINT $45 untill he told me I would be looking at $700 odd. C.V Joints a killer.

I then rang a friendly Ford dealer that tells me I cant buy the c.v joint I have to buy the whole 2 piece tail shaft at $2,500.
I'm thinking what a crock of b.s. If its built in pieces it comes out in pieces.
Did some ringing around found out there has been quiet a few problems with these c.v joints, After ford told me this is the first they had herd of.

I then took it to Hardy Spicer in Danenong and had the C.V replaced. Great work I must say and saved myself a couple hundred.

I love my Fords and always will but some of there employes are lacking in the P.R department.

I think this is probably a case of bad comunication, especially considering you're calling uni joints "CVs". Different things mate.

Better poke your head under a BA V8 or T ute mate. Two piece tailshaft, rubber coupling at front, centre bearing, CV joint in middle, CV joint at the diff. Not a uni in sight. Prices sound a little rich to me, however.

Mike, Sorry they are c.v joints im afraid not uni joints.

The list price of the c.v was around $380 plus a tail shaft re-balance about $200 plus labour if your not going to get under there and do It yourself and don't forget the good old g.s.t. It ended up I knew one of the blokes down there so I was looked after pretty well.
