Bearing failure XTGT diff aaarrrh

About 10 k's from home i stop at the lights and noticed this big plume of smoke coming from the rear wheel and the smell of burning diff oil so i pull over and noticed the oil seal has blown and has been spraying oil all over the hot disk aaarrrhh.
So i wait awhile for things to cool down then drove slowly home to pull the axle out.
To my disgust the bearings ****ed ! the ring that holds the bearing to the axlefalls off and the bearing has no bearings there on the ground now and the inner and outerbearing races have been running on each other causing them to seize and spin on the axle stuffing that too!!!
Sooo are the axles in Xw and Xys 9" the same length as ive been told 9" and 8" diffs use the same 28 spline axles any info greatly appreticated.
Thanks Wozza
