Electrical goods usually attract 5% customs duty and 10% GST. We convert
your US$300 to Aust$'s using the exchange rate on the date of export. This
conversion is now called the Customs Value. The first amount payable is your
duty, which is 5% of the Customs Value. The following is your GST
calculation: Customs Value + duty + cost to transport & insure the goods to
Australia. GST IS then 10% of this total and is payable as well.
