The XE and XF gearboxes do not start with the number 0552, but are
5 SPEED BORG WARNER 0507 xxxxxx (named an M76). aparently these boxes were supplied in Commodore VK's and the 3.3L XE's. The M76 is weak as snot, and would work and die very quickly behind a 90's or 2000's 4L.

if the gearbox is an all aluminuim housing type it could be a T5 or T5OD to be exact.
If it is a T5 then it gets a bit hairy because of different combinat....
let us know what type of box it is and i'll be happy to have a look for you.

I, too, have the chance to buy one labelled BORG WARNER 0552 066900. It is complete alloy housing, and as such I am very interested in it. Even if it has come out of the EA - at least it will run behind my mostly stock EF without bending.
I guess it is EA or EB as the condition of the alloy suggests 20 odd years, not 5 or 10. If that is enough info to find out the gear ratios, then please tell!
If fifth is similar to the M76's 1:.76 or similar, then I may just buy this box...! Do not want top gear to be 1:1 ....
