c4

how strong is a ford c4 standard? im doing a turbo crossflow so what mods need to be made 4 it 2 handle bout 400 hp?

also does any 1 know if there is a difference between the 6cyl and v8 versions?

C4's r pretty strong i no they took the XY GT's at about 300hp or something but i think u should be able to run it stock goin top put on in my xf soon i found one in me old mans shed to fit me car. and there is no difference between the 6 and V8 version except for the bellhousing is different so u would have to find bellhousing to fit the 4.1 motor

Go with an XD type c4,same internals as a V8 C4..An extra clutch in top gear to total 5,a transgo shift kit,kevlar bands..The 6 cyl c4's have a small servo for 2nd gear so upgrade to an 'R' or 'H' servo from a V8 C4.. Pay close attention to clutch pack clearances and end float on assembly...

I had a turbo XP with about 400 h.p. I still have the C-4 that I was using for a very short time(200 km.). With a Dominator torque convertor and carbon fibre clutches,etc and a new flexplate and good C-4 shifter, it cost me about $2400(manual shift). These boxes are very strong when done properly(used in 10 second cars). A stocker might struggle, depending on boost. Get some quotes and find out what the different workshops do to the box.
